- Avoid retinol, prescription retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and strong exfoliating products for 5 to 7 days before your treatment, unless directed by your provider.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner.
- Wear SPF 30+ daily and protect your skin from prolonged sun exposure.
- Avoid waxing, depilatory creams, aggressive scrubs, chemical peels, and other intensive skin treatments on the treatment area before your appointment.
- Arrive with clean skin whenever possible, free of makeup, oils, and heavy skincare products.
- Stay hydrated and maintain a gentle skincare routine leading up to your appointment.
- Tell your provider about medications, prescription skincare, recent cosmetic treatments, pregnancy or breastfeeding, history of cold sores, recent tanning, skin conditions, allergies, or changes in your health.
- Contact the clinic before your appointment if you have an active infection, open wound, sunburn, cold sore outbreak, or significant irritation in the treatment area.
AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT
- Mild redness, warmth, sensitivity, dryness, or temporary swelling may occur depending on the treatment performed.
- Keep your skincare routine gentle and hydrating. Use products recommended by your provider.
- Avoid retinol, prescription retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, exfoliating acids, scrubs, and other irritating active ingredients for at least 5 to 7 days after treatment, or until the skin has fully recovered, unless otherwise directed.
- Avoid excessive heat, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, strenuous exercise, and activities that cause heavy sweating for 24 to 48 hours, depending on your treatment.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every day.
- Do not pick, peel, scratch, or aggressively exfoliate treated skin.
- Avoid waxing, chemical peels, microneedling, laser treatments, and other intensive facial procedures until your provider advises it is safe.
- Keep the skin moisturized and drink plenty of water.
- Follow any treatment-specific instructions provided by your technician or medical provider.
